Island: He was first known as Henry Gale, but Sayid discovered that he was not Henry Gale. He was still known as Henry, though, because he wouldn't divulge his real name. It wasn't until much later that we learned his real name is Ben. He had a tumor on his spine, which Jack removed.
Ben didn't start getting better until Locke was around him. Ben took Locke to see Jacob, whom Locke couldn't see at first. Shortly after, Ben shot Locke.
In flashbacks, we learned that Ben came to the island as a boy, grew up to work for Dharma, then joined the hostiles to get rid of Dharma.
Strong Relationships: Unknown, but seems to be a leader among the Others. The one person he seems to have a strong relationship with is Alex, but the details of their relationship is not yet known.
Rocky Relationships: He seems to have a rocky relationship with Juliet and also Jack.
